SECL’s Hospital Management System to be Implemented Across Coal India

• HMIS developed under the guidance of the Vigilance Department to be scaled up at the Coal India level; over 2.2 lakh employees to benefit

Bilaspur, 22 September 2026. The Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) developed by South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) will now be implemented across Coal India. The system developed by SECL will serve as the basis for an integrated hospital management system for Coal India, benefiting more than 2.2 lakh employees. This will enable health-service-related processes across hospitals of various subsidiary companies to be connected through a common digital platform.

HMIS was launched at SECL on 27 May 2026 by Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey. The system aims to digitally secure patients’ medical records while making hospital management more systematic and efficient.

From Registration to Treatment, Information in One Place

HMIS enables the digital recording of patient registration, medical consultation, treatment and medication-related information. This ensures that patients’ medical information is systematically maintained and makes it easier to access previous medical records whenever required.

The system also incorporates online processing of medical reimbursement claims, along with integration of AMRIT Pharmacy and medicine management. This will help reduce paperwork, improve record management and facilitate monitoring at various stages of the process.

Vigilance Department Played a Key Role

The Vigilance Department of SECL has played a significant role in the development and advancement of this initiative. Under its guidance, efforts were undertaken to promote transparency, accountability and improved monitoring of health-service-related processes through digital means. Considering the utility of the system developed at SECL, steps are now being taken to extend it across Coal India.

SECL Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Himanshu Jain said,

“Through HMIS, efforts have been made to digitally streamline processes related to healthcare services. It will help improve the management of medical records, process monitoring and accountability. The expansion of the system developed at SECL to the Coal India level is an important step in taking this initiative forward.”

The expansion of HMIS across Coal India will promote digitisation of medical records, standardisation of processes, improved monitoring and digital coordination in hospital management across various hospitals.
