Vedanta Aluminium, V-Spark to Scale Deep-Tech Initiatives; BALCO Korba Part of Innovation Drive
KORBA: Vedanta Aluminium, in collaboration with V-Spark, India’s manufacturing deep-tech incubator, has launched a major initiative to accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies across its operations. The initiative was highlighted at the ‘MetALverse’ technology showcase held in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
The company aims to unlock up to Rs 2,100 crore in value through wider adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), digitalisation and automation. The initiative will focus on improving plant productivity, optimising costs, strengthening asset reliability and advancing sustainability across Vedanta Aluminium’s integrated value chain.
BALCO in Korba, Chhattisgarh, has been included in the initiative, along with Vedanta Aluminium’s major operations in Lanjigarh and Jharsuguda in Odisha. Through the V-Spark innovation ecosystem, Vedanta Aluminium is currently collaborating with nearly 70 startups to evaluate, pilot and scale emerging technologies for industrial applications.
The MetALverse platform is aimed at bridging the gap between deep-tech innovation and real-world industrial deployment. Under the initiative, solutions will be technically evaluated, tested in live operating environments and subsequently scaled up across operations.
Vedanta Aluminium has announced collaborations with leading technology companies including OpenAI, Microsoft, SAP, AVEVA, Rockwell Automation, Thoughtworks and Fives. The company has also partnered with deep-tech innovators such as Ripik.AI, XYMA, Faclon, DesignX, DigitalPaani, AutoVRse, Enmovil and ideaForge.
The collaborations will cover areas such as generative AI, intelligent agents, industrial data, digital twins, smart manufacturing, process optimisation, workforce training, logistics and drone-based industrial intelligence.
The initiative is expected to strengthen AI-led manufacturing, operational decision-making, safety, sustainability and productivity, while creating a technology-driven ecosystem across Vedanta Aluminium’s operations, including BALCO Korba.
