Transforming Dantewada: Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana provided a permanent home

Dantewada, 03 March 2023. It is nothing short of a miracle when your aspirations come true. Mrs. Sundara is from a middle-class agricultural family and lives in Patelpara, Gram Panchayat Gumda, District Panchayat Gidam. Sundara’s family’s livelihood is based on agriculture and earnings. Sundara took on the entire duty of the house and her daughter after her husband died unexpectedly some time ago.

Sundara’s family’s economic situation was weak due to the lack of other male members in the house and the inability to make a living through farming, making it appear difficult for her to realize her late husband’s desire of having a permanent residence. She was forced to live in a poor mud and grass home.

Meanwhile, she knew about the Central Government’s key scheme Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), and once Sundara’s house was approved in 2018-19, she had optimism of attaining her ambition of owning a pucca house. Sundara’s father and brothers also assisted in every way they could. The government also transferred 130000 for house construction to Sundara, 12000 for toilet, and 95 days wages under MNREGA to Sundara’s bank account under the program, and cooking gas was provided by the government under Ujjwala Yojana. Sundara, who is full of security and confidence, is experiencing a favorable improvement in her social standing and health while her house is being constructed.
