Raipur, October 14, 2026/ Chhattisgarh is expanding access to safe, affordable and well-equipped housing, with two modern residential colonies planned in Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s home district of Jashpur. Under the Atal Vihar Scheme, the Chhattisgarh Housing Board will develop 225 houses across approximately 14 acres in Ginabahar village of Kunkuri development block and Balachhapar village in Jashpur, at a total approved cost of ₹51.48 crore. The projects are expected to create new opportunities for families across income groups to own homes in planned residential neighbourhoods equipped with modern infrastructure and essential civic amenities.

The projects are being advanced under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and through the efforts of Housing and Environment Minister and Jashpur district in-charge Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary. The State Government is working to extend organised housing development beyond major cities to district headquarters, smaller towns and development blocks. In line with this objective, the Chhattisgarh Housing Board is working to expand residential schemes across all 33 districts of the State.

Modern Housing Facilities to Reach Smaller Towns, on Chief Minister Shri Sai’s initiative

The two proposed colonies reflect the State Government’s focus on developing residential facilities according to local needs. The objective is not limited to constructing houses, but also includes creating planned neighbourhoods with safe surroundings, organised roads, greenery, sanitation and essential daily amenities.

The projects are expected to benefit economically weaker sections, low-income households and other eligible families. The expansion of housing infrastructure may also support local economic activity, construction-related employment and associated livelihood opportunities.

Housing Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary’s Special Efforts Accelerate Residential Projects

Under the special directions of Housing and Environment Minister and Jashpur district in-charge Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary, the Chhattisgarh Housing Board is focusing on expanding residential projects in the district and ensuring their effective implementation. Shri Choudhary has emphasised quality, transparency, timely construction and the provision of essential civic amenities as key priorities in housing schemes.

Under his guidance, the Board is promoting residential projects that are affordable for ordinary citizens while meeting the requirements of modern urban planning and an improved quality of life. The proposed residential colonies in Jashpur and Kunkuri are significant initiatives in this direction. These projects are expected to promote planned residential development in the district and pave the way for residents to access a modern living environment equipped with better amenities.

Kunkuri’s First Modern Residential Colony to Be Developed at Ginabahar at the cost of Rs 17.15 crore

Under the Atal Vihar Yojana, a modern residential colony will be developed on approximately seven acres in Ginabahar village of Kunkuri development block. Administrative approval of ₹17.15 crore has been granted for the project, which will comprise 97 houses, including 91 earmarked for families in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low-Income Group (LIG) categories.

A key feature of the project is that the State Government has made the land available to the Housing Board at a nominal rate of ₹1 per square foot to encourage affordable housing development. Eligible EWS beneficiaries will receive assistance of ₹80,000, while eligible LIG beneficiaries will receive ₹40,000, helping reduce the financial burden of home ownership.

Located approximately two kilometres from National Highway 43 along the Kunkuri-Bagicha road, the proposed colony will feature planned internal roads, security arrangements, green spaces, drainage and other essential infrastructure. The project is expected to become a significant addition to organised residential development in the Kunkuri area.

Balachhapar Project to Provide 128 Homes at a Cost of ₹34.32 Crore

A second residential colony will be developed across approximately seven acres in Balachhapar village in Jashpur town. The project has received administrative approval of ₹34.32 crore and will include 128 houses across different income categories, along with commercial shops.

The housing mix comprises 11 houses for the High-Income Group (HIG), 20 for the Middle-Income Group (MIG), four for the Junior Middle-Income Group, 55 for the Low-Income Group (LIG) and 38 for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS).

Located around 200 metres from National Highway 43 on the Raigarh Road, the colony is planned as a modern gated residential campus. Proposed amenities include a bus stop, community hall, box-cricket facility, landscaped garden, children’s play area and commercial shops. These facilities are intended to provide residents with convenient access to recreation, community activities and everyday requirements within the residential complex.

Chhattisgarh Housing Board Chairman Shri Anurag Singh Deo said that, under the Chief Minister’s guidance and the directions of Housing and Environment Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary, the Board is expanding affordable and quality housing projects across the State. He said the objective extends beyond house construction to creating safe, well-planned residential environments with essential facilities.

He added that the Jashpur and Kunkuri projects would prioritise modern infrastructure, organised roads, clean surroundings, green spaces and civic amenities. Housing options have been planned for different income groups, with particular emphasis on providing affordable homes to EWS and LIG families.

More Housing Projects Planned in Mahuatoli, Kadora and Pathalgaon

Further expansion of residential facilities is also being planned in Jashpur district. Housing projects are being pursued in Mahuatoli and Kadora in Jashpur, as well as in Madanpur village in Pathalgaon development block, with the aim of extending access to planned and affordable housing to more areas of the district.

Shri Praful Choure, Executive Engineer of the Chhattisgarh Housing Board in Jashpur, said bookings for the residential scheme at Madanpur village in Pathalgaon are open. The booking process began on October 6, 2026, and the deadline for the first round has been set for October 20, 2026.

A New Chapter in Jashpur’s Housing Development

The two projects in Kunkuri and Jashpur will together provide 225 homes across approximately 14 acres, expanding access to modern residential facilities in the district.

Under the Atal Vihar Scheme, the projects mark a step towards planned urban development, improved civic amenities and more affordable housing options. By combining residential construction with supporting infrastructure and targeted financial assistance for eligible beneficiaries, the initiatives aim to help more families move closer to the dream of owning a home.
