Organised in collaboration with the Forest Department, horticulture awareness sessions highlighted the importance of native and medicinal plants. Traditional activities such as pottery making and Kosa weaving showcased the role of indigenous knowledge in promoting sustainable livelihoods and preserving local heritage.

Exhibitions featuring products made by women entrepreneurs, self-help groups and local producer collectives also highlighted the potential of sustainable practices to strengthen livelihoods and support community development.

Rajesh Singh, CEO and Whole-time Director of BALCO, said sustainability was about the choices made today and the legacy left for future generations. He emphasised that businesses had a vital role in ensuring that economic growth remained socially inclusive and environmentally responsible.

He added that sustainability at BALCO extended beyond processes and targets, forming an integral part of the company’s approach to operations, innovation and value creation for employees, communities and the nation.
