Chhattisgarh Govt to Gradually Transition Official Vehicles to EVs

Raipur, May 13, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has endorsed the call made by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for fuel conservation and prudent use of resources in national interest, stating that in an era marked by global energy crises and environmental challenges, the responsible use of valuable resources such as petrol and diesel is a national duty for every citizen.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that energy conservation is not merely an economic necessity, but also a crucial step towards securing the future of coming generations and protecting the environment. Inspired by this vision, the state government is taking concrete initiatives at the administrative level to reduce fuel consumption and ensure the judicious use of resources, he added.

Shri Sai stated that during his official tours, only essential vehicles would now be included in the motorcade. He further informed that ministers as well as office-bearers of various corporations and boards have also been urged to ensure restrained and responsible use of vehicles and other government resources.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to environmentally sustainable governance, Chief Minister Shri Sai said the state would work towards making the official transport system more eco-friendly. As part of this initiative, concrete steps will be initiated to gradually convert all government vehicles into electric vehicles (EVs) in a phased manner. He said the move would not only help conserve fuel but also play a significant role in pollution control and promotion of green energy.

Appealing to the people of the state, Shri Sai urged citizens to make greater use of public transport, adopt carpooling and avoid unnecessary use of private vehicles. He said that small behavioural changes can collectively bring about transformative results. If every citizen treats fuel conservation as a personal responsibility, the campaign can evolve into a widespread public movement in national interest.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that turning fuel conservation into a participatory public campaign with the spirit of “Nation First” is the need of the hour. Calling upon citizens to act as responsible stakeholders in nation-building, he said that every conscious step taken towards saving fuel would contribute significantly to the country’s energy security, environmental protection and economic strength.
