Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai Attends Police Mitan Conference

Raipur, January 22, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today attended the Police Mitan Conference organized at Shanti Sarovar, Saddu, in the state capital Raipur. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Police Mitan will play an extremely important role in promoting road safety awareness. Besides sensitizing citizens towards road safety, Police Mitan will also help improve police response time in villages and neighbourhoods. On the occasion, Chief Minister also launched the Police Mitan App.

Shri Sai said that Chhattisgarh has a beautiful and deeply humane tradition of nourishing bonds of “Mitan” or friendship. By choosing to become Mitans of the police, the participants have taken a pledge to raise public awareness on road safety. He remarked that working for road safety is a truly virtuous endeavour, as the loss suffered by families who lose their loved ones in road accidents can never be fully compensated.

Expressing confidence, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that with the sustained efforts of Police Mitan partners, road accidents will certainly decline, making the lives of ordinary citizens safer.

Congratulating the Police Mitan partners for this innovative initiative, Shri Sai said that this road safety initiative in Raipur district will serve as an inspiration for other districts across the state.

Chief Minister further stated that the state government is working continuously for the holistic development of all sections of society. To facilitate easier mobility in rural areas, the Mukhyamantri Bus Seva Yojana has been launched. Under this scheme, bus services will be provided even on remote and less commercially viable routes, with the state government bearing the financial gap arising on such routes.

Addressing the conference, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that there can be no better Mitan than the police. Police personnel perform their duties with utmost discipline and dedication even under challenging circumstances. He added that Police Mitan will now actively participate alongside the police in ensuring the safety of society.

Shri Sharma noted that Police Mitan partners have moved beyond awareness of rights to take a firm pledge towards fulfilling their duties. Strict adherence to traffic rules is essential to prevent road accidents, and Police Mitan will play a crucial role in this direction.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai distributed helmets and first aid kits to Police Mitan partners and honoured social workers who contributed to the organisation of the event. During the programme, 4,500 Police Mitans were provided with helmets, and first aid kits were distributed to each village.

Director General of Police Shri Arun Dev Gautam, addressing the conference, said that the Police Mitan scheme is an effective initiative towards strengthening community policing. The welcome address was delivered by Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Lal Ummed Singh.

The programme also featured a soulful and inspiring song on road safety presented by children from the Government Divyang School, Mana Camp.

Among those present on the occasion were Additional Director General of Police Shri Pradeep Gupta, Additional Director General of Police Shri Amit Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Raipur Range, Shri Amresh Mishra, Brahmakumari Savita Didi, Shri Ram Garg, along with a large number of Police Mitans and distinguished citizens.
