In the Holy Month of Sawan, CM Vishnu Deo Sai Performs Rudrabhishek, Prays for Peace and Prosperity in Chhattisgarh

Devotion, Culture, and Harmony on Full Display as CM Joins Grand Kanwar Yatra in Raipur

Raipur, August 3, 2025/On the sacred occasion of Sawan, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai participated in the grand Kanwar Yatra held in the Gudhiyari area of Raipur. As thousands of devotees carried holy water in decorated Kanwars, the Chief Minister joined them and performed Rudrabhishek of Lord Bholenath, offering prayers for the happiness, prosperity, and welfare of the people of Chhattisgarh.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Sai said, “Today, a sea of devotees marched from Maruti Mangalam Bhavan, Gudhiyari to the Hatkeshwarnath Mahadev Temple for Jalabhishek. This event keeps alive the glorious cultural traditions of Chhattisgarh and reflects the depth of our folk beliefs.” He added that the Kanwar Yatra, observed during the holy month of Sawan, is a symbol of deep devotion and surrender to Lord Shiva. Devotees undertake arduous foot journeys spanning several kilometres to offer sacred water to the deity.

The CM also underlined the spiritual importance of Hatkeshwarnath Mahadev Temple located at Mahadev Ghat in Raipur. “This temple holds deep religious and cultural value. Every year, thousands of devotees gather here for Jalabhishek. The land of Chhattisgarh is a beautiful confluence of devotion, faith, and culture. Events like the Kanwar Yatra not only preserve tradition but also spread the message of spiritual awareness and social harmony,” he said.

The event saw the presence of several eminent dignitaries including Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, former Governor Ramesh Bais, Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, Women & Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade, MP Brijmohan Agrawal, Raipur West MLA Rajesh Munat, Raipur South MLA Sunil Soni, Raipur Rural MLA Motilal Sahu, Raipur North MLA Purandar Mishra, former MP Abhishek Singh, and Raipur Mayor Meenal Chaubey. A large number of devotees, citizens, and social organisation representatives also joined the occasion.

The Kanwar Yatra from Gudhiyari to Hatkeshwarnath Mahadev Temple saw devotees carrying colourful Kanwars and sacred water, chanting hymns and showcasing artistic tableaux. The CM’s participation in the spiritual gathering further energized the atmosphere of faith and festivity in the capital city.
