Korba, 11th March 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer and a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, celebrated International Women’s Day with a special Townhall recognizing 56 women achievers from across the organization for their excellence. The event was graced by Milena Kurre, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Chhattisgarh, as the Guest of Honour.

The event marked the launch of the second edition of ‘UnstoppabAl,’ a special magazine celebrating the journey of 12 inspiring women including employees and beneficiaries from the communities. As we progress towards the vision of 1 MTPA, their leadership continues to shape a more inclusive BALCO and contribute to building a more empowered nation.”

Sharing her experience, Milena Kurre said, “Over the years, we have proven that no task is beyond a woman’s capability. Whether it is serving in the BSF or holding prominent positions as judges in the Supreme Court, women are leading with strength and purpose across every sector. Their growth reflects the steady progress of our nation, and it fills me with pride to witness this transformation.”

Additionally, BALCO organized a mental wellness awareness session to encourage open conversations around emotional well-being. This was followed by a breast cancer awareness session that promoted preventive healthcare by highlighting the importance of early detection, regular screening, recognizing warning signs, and addressing common myths.

To celebrate the collective spirit of womanhood, a special cultural evening was organized highlighting creativity, talent, and strength of women. The night featured dynamic performances including traditional Chhattisgarhi folk dances, contemporary acts, ramp walk, and music along with an exhibition displaying entries from the ‘Give to Gain’ poster‑making competition.

Reinforcing its commitment to an inclusive workplace, BALCO continues to advance women’s participation through focused skill development initiatives. The introduction of supportive workplace policies, including dedicated crèche facility, a one-day work-from-home provision for women employees, and structured nursing breaks for new mothers, has further strengthened the support system for women. These measures create a responsive and enabling environment that allows women to balance professional responsibilities while continuing to grow and thrive.
