CAG Director (Coal) Visits SECL, Reviews Mining Operations and Corporate Governance

KORBA, July 17: Shri Adarsh Agarwal, Director (Coal), Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India and an officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS), visited South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) to review the company’s mining operations, financial management and governance framework.

During his visit to the SECL Headquarters in Bilaspur on Friday, Shri Agarwal held discussions with SECL Director (Finance) Shri D. Sunil Kumar and Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Himanshu Jain. The meeting focused on the company’s operational performance, financial management practices and key governance-related issues.
Earlier, on July 16, Shri Agarwal visited the Gevra Mega Project, one of the country’s largest coal mining projects. Senior SECL officials briefed him on mining operations, production processes, coal dispatch systems and the technological initiatives being implemented to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
The Director (Coal) also undertook a field visit to gain first-hand knowledge of the project’s scale, mining practices and operational systems.
The visit facilitated a comprehensive review of SECL’s operational and institutional framework while providing an opportunity for detailed interaction on various aspects of the company’s functioning.
