Vedanta CEO Arun Misra visits BALCO, reviews 1 MTPA expansion progress

KORBA: Arun Misra, Group CEO and Executive Director, Vedanta Limited, visited Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) to interact with young talent and take first-hand stock of the progress of the company’s 1 MTPA expansion project.

During his visit, Misra toured key operational areas of BALCO and reviewed various aspects of the ongoing expansion. The visit provided an opportunity to engage with the company’s young professionals and understand the initiatives being undertaken to strengthen operations and support BALCO’s next phase of growth.

The visit also highlighted BALCO’s focus on integrating technology, innovation and sustainable practices across its operations. These initiatives are aimed at enhancing operational efficiency while supporting the company’s long-term growth objectives.

BALCO is currently progressing with its expansion programme to increase its aluminium production capacity to 1 million tonnes per annum. The expansion includes the development of new production facilities and value-added product capacities. Vedanta has stated that the completion of the expansion will further strengthen BALCO’s position as a major single-site aluminium producer.

Misra’s interaction with the young workforce also underscored the importance of talent, innovation and technology in driving the company’s future growth. The visit brought together key elements of BALCO’s expansion journey, including capacity enhancement, technological advancement, operational excellence and sustainable practices.
