Bilaspur: Teachers have a crucial role in nation-building and shaping the personality and future of students, said Chhattisgarh Governor Shri Ramen Deka.
He was addressing the Dronacharya Sangam Teacher Felicitation Ceremony organised at SECL DAV School, Bilaspur, on Sunday. The Governor graced the programme as the Chief Guest.
The programme commenced with Shri Deka and other dignitaries garlanding the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and eminent educationist. The dignitaries also recalled his invaluable contribution to the field of education.
During the ceremony, teachers from DAV schools functioning under various operational areas of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) were felicitated for their outstanding contribution and dedication.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Deka said student life is an important phase during which teachers play a significant role in shaping students’ knowledge, personality and future. The lessons imparted by teachers, he added, continue to influence students throughout their lives.
He urged students to understand that there are no shortcuts to success and stressed the importance of consistent hard work, discipline and dedication. He advised them to stay away from procrastination and laziness and emphasised that learning should be a continuous process.
The Governor further said that instead of thinking about what society has done for us, one should reflect on what one has done for society. He called upon students to understand their responsibilities towards society and the nation and utilise their knowledge and abilities for the betterment of society.
Shri Sunil Jain, Commissioner, Bilaspur Division; Shri Biranchi Das, Director (Human Resources), SECL; Shri Himanshu Jain, Chief Vigilance Officer, SECL; Shri K. Parthipan, Principal, SECL DAV Bilaspur; Smt. Maulika Mukherjee, ARO, DAV Bilaspur Region; and Smt. Suchitra Sharma, Principal, SECL DAV Korba, among others, attended the ceremony.
Collector Shri Sanjay Agrawal, Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Rajnesh Singh, and senior officials of SECL and the District Administration were also present.
